HighStep has won an interesting project in India in 2013; until today 1.000 telecom masts for the 4G broadband network are equipped with the innovative climbing system of the Swiss start-up.

Each project starts with a different challenge. The expansion of the Indian 4G broadband network has a major challenge – to install a climbing system which increases the safety of the employees, which cannot be abused and of course does not exceed the budget. It was found in HighStep. The triple connection, caused by the devices HighStep Easy and Protector, between the user and the Rail makes a fall impossible. Moreover, the device is mandatory to be used, otherwise nobody can climb. So the user can never climb unsafe. Due to the need of this device, a misuse by unauthorized persons and theft of expensive antenna technique is also not possible, because unauthorized persons or thieves usually don’t own the device.

In a very short time 1.000 telecom masts were built with a height of 25 meters. Also an added bonus: The slim designed HighStep rail fits perfect with the designed 4G telecom pylon all over India.

HighStep Systems AG offers innovative product solutions to access high buildings or constructions such as high-voltage, telecommunication and broadcasting towers, cranes, wind power plants and vertical installations of all kinds.

The HighStep climbing system always consists of two different components, the aluminium rail as the system bearer and at least one selectable climbing device.

HighStep Easy is the basic version of the climbing system and is designed for manual, mechanical climbing along the HighStep Rail. HighStep Easy aims to minimize the physical efforts when climbing manually by allowing the user to climb in a way which is similar to climbing the steps. HighStep Easy consists of two pedals which easily mount to the HighStep Rail. The user's foot is attached to the foot plate to guarantee the prevention of missteps, slides and slips. HighStep Easy allows to stand completely upright when climbing. The pedals thereby also act as resting platform (the user can halt and pause at any time). In contrast to traditional climbing solutions (e.g. fix ladder rungs) the high of each step can individually be chosen by the user.

Climbing with HighStep Easy always takes place in combination with an additional, independent fall protection - The HighStep Protector. The HighStep Protector is connected to the users safety harness on one side and embraces the HighStep Rail on the other. While the user climbs up or down as directed, the HighStep Protector runs freely along the rail in the same direction as the user. However, if the downward motion is too fast, i.e. in case of a fall, the spring force moves the double catch back into the Rail and prevents a free fall.
