Gait Up among the wearable technologies champions of the year

The world champions in wearables were announced at the WT | Wearable Technologies Conference EUROPE. Among them is Gait Up, a spin-off of the University Hospital of Lausanne (CHUV) and the Swiss Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL). Gait up focuses on motion analysis with wearables.

The WT Wearable Technologies Innovation World Cup is the leading worldwide innovation competition in the field of Wearable Technologies. This year 28 start-ups were nominated out of 450 submissions received from all over the world. Out of the 28, only six wearable world champions and the WT Innovator of the Year 2016 – including Gait Up from Switzerland were awarded from each of the six categories; Sports & Fitness, Healthcare & Wellness, Safety & Security, Gaming & Lifestyle and two special prizes for Smart Clothing as well as Smart Jewelry.

Under the category sports and fitness, Gait Up was declared the champion for their wearable Run Up, an advanced wearable motion analysis product for sports and medicine. It provides clinical grade analysis of running mechanics without calibration and helps athletes to reach peak performance as well as trainers and therapists to see e.g. historic trends or injury warnings.

Gait Up has been developing substantially since its start in 2013. The company benefits from 15 years of scientific experience in the field of movement analysis and measurements, and is now providing innovative products for objective evaluation of health and performance, based on wearable sensor technology. Currently, over 50 customers in academics, clinics, and industry in Europe, Canada, US and Asia are using the services from Gait Up.
