BaselLauch was inaugurated this year as an initiative of BaselArea.swiss – an economic promotion agency for the region of Basel – to support entrepreneurs and companies with the successful implementation of innovation and business ventures in the Basel region. BaselLaunch offers next generation of startups infusions of funds, industry access, insight and infrastructure, and to integrate them.

BaselLaunch is supported by Novartis Venture Fund, Johnson & Johnson Innovation, Pfizer, as well as other public and private partners. Moreover, in order to tap into the unexplored potential of life sciences innovation, BaseLaunch entered into a partnership with Kickstart Accelerator, an initiative of digitalswitzerland and one of Europe`s multi-corporate accelerators, to offer a healthcare-specific program in Basel.

For the upcoming program, which starts in September 2017, BaseLaunch is looking for entrepreneurs with projects at the pre-seed to seed funding stage. Also Professors or a group leaders with a promising discovery or a valuable IP but lack a team to develop it further, are invited to submit their application.

The program runs in two phases through December 2018. The first step in the application process is filling out the expression of interest form, which should be submitted before the deadline of 30 June 2017.

Ventures accepted for the final phase will receive a grant of up to 250,000 CHF as well as office and laboratory space free of charge. In addition, participation in the BaselLaunch program opens new avenues for connecting with some of the most dynamic biotech and pharma ecosystems in Europe.
