The Federal Office of Culture has announced four projects that will be supported by the selective film promotion. Among them is Apelab’s animated series Sequenced. The start-up from Geneva will receive CHF 40’000.

Sequenced is the first animated series on 360° for mobile devices and virtual reality helmets. The Apelab team aims at producing a traditional animation based experience, immersing viewers physically and emotionally into a 360° interactive adventure inside a graphic story. According to the user’s focus on certain angles or characters, the story may seamlessly take a different path, in reference to the “choose your own adventure” books. The technology developed to create the dynamic narrative called Gaze is being developed in house.

The series pilot will come out in 2015 and will be available on Oculus Rift and mobile devices. Currently in development, a prototype of the project has won the Best in Play award at the Game Developers conference in 2014, the Imaginove Grand Prize in Lyon, France, and is nominated in two categories for the Games Connection awards this year.

The development of Sequenced will also be supported by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture with CHF 40’000 in the context of the selective film promotion. The selective film funding supports projects that contribute to the diversity of Swiss films and co-productions. The funding supports film scripts and film productions and - for documentaries and animated films - the project development.
