GetYourGuide acquires Berlin based start-up Gidsy

Gidsy, which connects like-minded people in real life through unique experiences, has built a huge online and offline community of passionate individuals organizing and booking activities in more than 140 cities and 40 countries. The company has been backed by Sunstone Capital, Index Ventures and by names such as Werner Vogels, Christophe Maire and Ashton Kutcher.

GetYourGuide’s move to integrate Gidsy will further strengthen its market-leading position as the internet’s largest portal for things to do all over the world. In less than three years, GetYourGuide has partnered with more than 19,700 activities provided by professional suppliers in more than 1,930 destinations worldwide and has distribution partnerships with more than 1,500 online travel agencies, travel operators and media companies, such as TripAdvisor.
